Artist Statment

"On considering this years theme, I wanted to express a positive image, reflecting openness and communication amongst our community."

"The paper figures link together dancing around a handmade paper mandala which flows across a natural landscape of silk representing earth and sky."

"The dance represents our everyday interactions and gestures with others ... we all play a part in it every day. We co-exist in a culturally diverse community- we are not separate."

"The mandala was chosen to suggest the spiritual connections that bring us together.This reminds us of the cycle of life, and provides a structure for the mind to focus upon in order to move towards the experience of oneness."
